Australia Hosts the 5th FAI Women’s World Hot Air Ballooning Championship - 16th August 2023
The Northam Shire in Western Australia will host the 5th Women’s World Hot Air Ballooning Championship from 4 – 9 September this year. Teams from thirteen countries will descend on the township of Northam to compete for the title of World Champion. Read all about the Event here.
23rd Australian National Ballooning Championships - Northam - 6th May 2023
We are excited for the 23rd Australian National Ballooning Championships to be held in Northam, Western Australia with competition flights from the morning of Monday 8th May to the afternoon of Friday 12th May.
2021 NATIONAL BALLOONING CHAMPIONSHIPS - POSTPONED! - 7th August 2021
In light of the Covid-19 outbreaks across the nation and subsequent lockdowns, border closures and travel restrictions into Western Australia, the event organisers have made the difficult decision to postpone and reschedule the 2021 National Ballooning Championships, Northam. The Australian Ballooning Federation supports this decision.

The ABF does not support the Airservices proposal to lower Class E airspace on the East Coast of Australia - 15th February 2021
There have been proposed changes to Class E airspace put forward by Airservices Australia (Airservices). In broad terms, the proposal outlines a plan to reduce the current Class E airspace lower limit of 8500’ AMSL from Cairns to Melbourne, to 1500’ AGL. The ABF does not support the lowering of Class E airspace proposed by Airservices Australia because it will make our sport less safe for our members.

The FAI President, Mr Bob Henderson has released a letter from the FAI detailing current external Influences on FAI Activities. In particular the letter details the effects of the 2019-nCoV coronavirus outbreak in China and the WADA ban on participation by Russia nationals or events in Russia.
