The ABF has awarded a sanction to Northam Ballooning Events Inc. to run the 23rd Australian Hot Air Ballooning Championships in Northam, Western Australia.

Northam has run a very successful Nationals over years, most recently in 2015 and 2017, with Matthew Scaife winning in both years.  Sean Kavanagh is the current champion, winning in Mudgee in 2019 and he is looking forward to defending his title.

Practice Flights: Saturday 6th - Sunday 7th May 2023
Competition Flights: Monday 8th - Friday 12th May 2023

Key Grab/Reserve Competition Flight: Saturday 13th May 2023

The Shire of Northam community event, "Elevate Festival", is scheduled to take place on Saturday 6th May, incorporating an evening 'balloon night glow' weather permitting.
 
The team at Northam Ballooning Events are delighted to invite you to participate in the Championships.
 
Gary Lacey will be the Event Director, directing his 4th National Championships; joined by John Wallington (Safety Officer) and Steve Ireland (Chief Scorer).
 
The event will use the FAI “Balloon Live” App with a connected Balloon Live Sensor (BLS). Visit Watchmefly: https://watchmefly.net
 
The 23rd National Championships will be used to select the pilots to represent Australia in future World Championships.
