Australian Hot Air Balloon Grand Prix 2026

The Australian Hot Air Balloon Grand Prix is the premier national competition series showcasing balloon pilots from across Australia and the world. The 2026 Grand Prix brings together the best in competitive ballooning across two rounds.

The Rounds

Team Format

Teams may enter with either one or two pilots. A single-pilot team will have the same pilot fly in both rounds. Two-pilot teams nominate one pilot for Round 1 and the other for Round 2.

If you are competing in both events, then a single-pilot team is most suitable, and you will enter both events. If you are unable to attend one of the events, combine with a pilot attending the other event and create your team.

Scoring

The overall Grand Prix standings will be based on a recalculation of results from both rounds, considering only pilots entered in the Grand Prix. These recalculated task scores from Round 1 and Round 2 will then be combined to determine the final Grand Prix standings.

Eligibility

All competing pilots must be current financial members of the Australian Ballooning Federation (ABF). There is no separate entry or registration fee, other than ABF membership.
